hohokam society - tempe

Hohokam Society was named for the ancient American Indian people who lived in central and southern Arizona. They were known for creating large irrigation networks around the Rio Salado to support their agriculture. Remains of their culture are regularly found in the region.

The Hohokam Society in Tempe was first established in 1970 and again in 1990. Meetings are held monthly August through May. Contact [email protected] for details.

Annual traditional activities include:
  • Planning meeting in August
  • March in the Parada del Sol in Scottsdale
  • Lay wreaths for Wreaths Across America
  • Participate in the national C.A.R.'s Day of Service
  • May FUN meeting where members simply enjoy time together at a location of their choice
